The agenda covered an overview of Chardonnay and Specific Winemaking Techniques, History of Oregon Chardonnay and Introduction of the Dijon Clones, Panel Discussion of growing Oregon Chardonnay and wine making techniques, Tasting and Discussion of Wines and then adjourned for additional Tasting and Appetizers.

Today we are going to tell you about places to eat in Newberg, Oregon that are a little bit upscale. There are a few newer places in Newberg for an evening dinner with a loved one or a great friend.

“The Recipe” is fairly new and has an area outside as well as inside you to dine. Great food and wine.

“Sub-Terra” is fairly new and has great food and wine. It feels like you are going to a underground hideaway.

“The Painted Lady” as been around for a while. It also has great food and wine served in a historic home.

“The Allison” is located just outside of Newberg. The food is great along with the wine.

Today, I had a great visit with a young man who is in his early twenties. He told me of  the fun he had this week snowboarding with his friends. They traveled up to Mt Hood Meadows. He was so excited when telling me of the great time they had with all the new snow that had been falling.

After talking with this young man, I thought about places in Oregon where you can have fun in the snow. If you like skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, and sledding; Oregon is a place that you will love. Timberline, Government Camp, Cooper Spur, Mt Hood Meadows and Anthony Lakes are great places to visit to make memories with your friends and family.

One thing that I have learned over the years is that you need to have some fun with your family and friends. So, take some time out of you busy schedule and have some fun.

Today was a winter wonderland for most of Oregon. Snow has fallen over our state giving a beautiful picturesque scene.

Where I am living, families were out making snow people of all sizes. I was out with my granddaughter making our snow people of all sizes as well. We had a snowball fight and took pictures for refreshing our memories in years to come.

Sometimes we get so busy worrying about tomorrow we forget about today. It was good to see everyone having fun together. Hearing the laughter and seeing the smiles on all the faces.

Here in Oregon… We have the opportunity to embrace many great moments that will give memories for years to come. Take time to have some fun with your loved ones. Time goes by way to fast.

Today was so much fun! We had guests, Kerrie and John from Washington on our wine tour today. Our first stop was at August Cellars Winery where Tom and Daniel greeted us. They took time to visit with us, tell some great stories and let us sample their wines.

Then off we went to the Duck Pond Winery. It was exciting to see all the new items in the winery gift shop. Kerrie and John enjoyed tasting the wines as well as doing a little shopping.

The third place that we visited was Wine Country Farm. The view was great and Kerrie and John were able to meet the manager Jessica. Both John and Jessica took turns playing on the piano. I served snacks as Kerrie and John sampled the wine.

After leaving Wine Country Farm and heading back to Newberg, I asked them if they would like to make one more stop to do a little olive oil sampling. John and Kerrie had never sampled olive oil and did not know there were olive trees in Oregon. Boy, did they have fun. Not only did they get a chance to taste the olive oil they were able to sample Durant’s Wines.

What a great day! New friends, great food and fine wines.

You will have to check out the pictures from our tour on our Embrace Oregon.com facebook page.

Wow, where did the week go? It is Friday and we are looking forward to a wonderful weekend with tours, new friends and great food. I hope that you are doing the same thing.

I had a conversation the other day with a grand lady who said she was too old to make plans for the weekends. I sure hope you are not feeling that way. I believe as soon as you stop dreaming and planning then you are not living. We all need to live.

Today is also a tour prep day. We need to have the van and food ready for tomorrows wine tour. Everyone will want tasty snacks. We will serve a Salmon spread, spinach dip, breads, fruit and veggies along with some cheese. I am already getting hungry.

Well, the sun is shinning today and it is a good day to get outside for a walk in one of Oregon’s beautiful parks or gardens. This weekend is said to have some wild weather around the 500 foot elevation. We will see if the snowflakes fall…

Have a great day in Oregon!
