Historic Shelton McMurphey Johnson House

This Queen Anne Style Victorian-era residence was built in 1888 by Dr. T.W. Shelton. He had Oregon builder Walter Pugh build this home on the hillside overlooking the city of Eugene and the train station. Today it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

This historic home is open to the public to view. The house is furnished for the era of which it was built. It give you a great look at what it was like to visit this home in the late 1800’s.

This house is now named after the three families who lived there. It is now owned by the city of Eugene, Oregon and is open to the public for viewing, tea parties and more. It is a great place to visit. Don’t forget to enjoy the garden when visiting.

As we were discovering more of Oregon. We made sure to stop by Saginaw Vineyards for a little wine tasting and a wonderful lunch in a beautiful old barn from the 1800’s.

Saginaw Vineyard has great events throughout the year and weekend music and dinners. Make sure you take time to enjoy their wines. We enjoyed ourselves while we were there.

Have you had a chance to visit one of Oregon’s great farmers Market’s. They are filled with delicious locally grown fruits and vegetables. The goodies do not stop there. Many wonderful crafters and artists are displaying their latest works.

There are many vendors with food booths at the farmers market’s. Take time to try some of the scrumptious foods that are being served while you listen to the local musicians. They are performing a show just for the market visitors.

Oregon has many wonderful wineries. In the state of Oregon there are a little over 500 wineries. The majority of Oregon wineries are in Yamhill County with a little over 250 wineries in all.

Welcome to 2014!

This is a time for new beginnings. A new year gives us opportunities that are unlimited. We can make goals to reach for the sky or take baby step towards a goal or do as we always do. It is your choice.

Well, we here at Embrace Oregon are going to look towards the sky and reach for the stars. We have so many wonderful plans being made right now for 2014.
