Zebra's enjoying the sunshine.

Zebra’s enjoying the sunshine, Winston, Oregon.

The time is here…. It is vacation time for many of us.

As we start our vacations and spread our wings to have fun checking out wildlife in our area and around the world. We must remember to keep our distance and respect that they are wild animals.

They do not read the signs, warning postings which maybe around the area. Animals live a very different life style than we do. We must remember they are wild animals and look at other small animals and people as lunch or dinner.

Everyone admires the beauty of our planets wildlife. Their coloring, fur, size, shapes, and the noise that they make… such as the roar of the lion. Some Wildlife & More 084animals like the water, holes in the ground and some like being in the trees and rocks. Where ever you are keep your eyes open and remember this is their home we are visiting as well as ours. Go about your day and try not to disturb their home.

It is wonderful to study them and see the habitat in which they live. There are things you need to know when you visit their homes. Do not touch or move their babies. The mother’s of these babies will come back and take care of them, even if you do not see the mothers. If, you are concerned. Contact a ranger and let the rangers handle the situation.  Always stay your distance. Animals move fast and you may be in their pathway or too close to their babies. Always stay calm and do not run from them. This could cause the animal to chase after you. Wildlife & More 430

Read up about the area you are going to visit. This way you will be prepared for situations that may arise. Make sure you have food, beepers, maps and let others know where you are going and what your plans are. Be smart in the woods and be safe as you enjoy your vacation time.

Oregon Coastal Mountain RangeMay 2015 058

The Oregon Coastal Mountain Range has lush green trees and beautiful forest floor plants. As you explore into Oregon’s forests in the spring there are a large variety of wildflowers scattering the landscape.

Some of these native plants love peeking up in the spring and throughout the year. We start looking for native plants like the Three-Toothed mitrewort in the early spring.

Oregon Wildflowers

Horsetail Wild Flowers

This week as we enjoyed exploring the Oregon Coastal Mountain Range we also found some northern giant horsetail or some of us like calling it snake grass. It is located in the picture to the right. This plant is native to the area and located throughout this mountain range.

So, keep your eyes open when you are out on a hike in the Oregon’s Coastal Mountain Range. You may find some surprises as you are hiking. They are popping up everywhere.

Enjoy the native surrounding that are all around us. Sometimes we get so involved with our day-to-day lives we forget to enjoy the simple things like these beautiful native plants.

It is here…. It is Spring… Many of us are on spring break from school, work and just because. There are changes taking place all around us. Many of us are seeing the spring flowers blooming. Each day is another wonderful day of color.

We are taking time to experience the outdoors and enjoy seeing our surroundings come alive after a long winters nap. For some of us this means gardening, taking a bike ride, a walk or a hike in the mountains. For us here in Oregon we love the changing of the seasons and love to be outdoors. We cherish seeing our gardens grow as well as embracing the mountains, high desert and all seven regions of our state.

Many of us enjoy heading to the Oregon coast to see if we can find a treasure whale-watching1on the beach. Some of us watch the gorgeous waves come a shore. Others like spotting wildlife like pods of whales who are swimming by.

Spring is a great time of the year in Oregon. We here at Embrace Oregon invite you to experience a vacation here in Oregon. Take a look at our tours and some of the fun you could be having.

October 2015 120

Our 2015 Oregon Mystery Tour was an enormous success as we discovered more of Oregon. Our mystery tour took us on a journey to the oldest settlement in Oregon… the city of Astoria. It sits at the mouth of the Columbia River and the Pacific Ocean. This beautiful city has gorgeous scenic views of the mountains, ocean and the river. With the opportunity to have many adventures.

October 2015 057

This years mystery tour allowed us to visit many of the highlights in this quaint city and some of the surrounding area. We took time to explore but, it was just not enough time to capture all of the sites. It leaves us wanting to go back for a revisit to Astoria.

October 2015 072

The Oregon Mystery Tour journey took us to experience good food and drink, fun music, a chance to see museums, a fort and to go below deck on the Coast Guard’s ship, The Columbia. It was a great time had by all.

October 2015 074

We are looking forward to see where the 2016 Oregon Mystery Tour will take us next year. Will be at a fort like this years Fort Clatsop?

October 2015 146

Remember…. It will be a mystery location with great events. Are you ready for an adventure in 2016? We are!

If you would like to join us sometime… Give us a call we love adventures.

We love having fun no matter where we go in Oregon. We just completed a Central Oregon tour and totally enjoyed ourselves. As we arrived in Central Oregon we were able to view the beautiful mountains with their winter snow.

We stayed at the Eagle Crest Resort and attended the Oregon State Championships for grade school girls basketball. The games were exciting and fun to watch during this two day event.

Then it was time to see the sights around Bend, Oregon. One of our stops was at the High Desert Museum. The sun was shining and we toured the museum as well as the wonderful exhibits outside.

If you ever want to look us up when you visit Oregon and go on a  tour with us. Give us a call. We do have fun in Oregon!

Where ever you are in Oregon you will be seeing our scenery changing. The views from beautiful colored leaves to snow and ice and yes, you are going to see rain as well. Many of us Oregonians welcome the rain. We know when the rain comes the temperature is going to be a little warmer in many areas around the state during the winter. We also know there will be snow in the mountains as well as Central and Eastern Oregon.

Hey, everyone… Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow, 6 more weeks of winter!

Get ready everyone if Punxsutawney Phil is correct we will see 6 more weeks of winter. What do you think?

Oregon needs rain and snow in the mountains. Right now Oregon is in a drought state without our rain. We would rather have rain now while it is winter rather than later when we really want the sun to shine.

Without the rain and snow in the mountains we will see more forest fires, low drinking water levels. Many of our recreational areas will be in danger of being closed off to the public due to fire danger. Farmers crops will be in danger of not growing large yields.

So, even if we want to see spring now, we need rain and snow more.
