We love having fun no matter where we go in Oregon. We just completed a Central Oregon tour and totally enjoyed ourselves. As we arrived in Central Oregon we were able to view the beautiful mountains with their winter snow.

We stayed at the Eagle Crest Resort and attended the Oregon State Championships for grade school girls basketball. The games were exciting and fun to watch during this two day event.

Then it was time to see the sights around Bend, Oregon. One of our stops was at the High Desert Museum. The sun was shining and we toured the museum as well as the wonderful exhibits outside.

Today, we took a tour at the beautiful Historic Deepwood Estate. Even though the weather was cold and a few snow flake were falling, the gardens were still very pretty.

As we make our way to the entrance we get to stroll a short distance through the garden. There were a few flowers trying to bloom in this winter weather. Near this area of the garden there are nature paths through a wooded area that surrounds the house.

The Deepwood Estate was built-in the 1800’s and has been transformed into a wonderful museum. As you make your way into the house you will feel like you are stepping back in time.

Throughout the year events take place from Mother’s Day Teas to Wine & Jazz Festivals. Each year many weddings take place in the gardens.

On a journey to the Central Oregon Coast. We enjoyed Boiler Bay Wayside which is between Lincoln City and just outside of Depoe Bay, Oregon. There was lots of waves and very little wind. A great day for being at the coast.

While we enjoyed the view of the ocean we also had the opportunity to watch the local fisherman fishing at Boiler Bay Wayside. We were a bit early for they were just getting started with their day.

These fisherman are fishing for rock cod and sea bass.

It does not matter what time of the year it is, the Oregon Coast is a wonderful place to visit.  Whether you like walking on the sandy beaches and collecting sea shells or setting in a hotel room watching the stormy waves roll in, winter can be a great time to visit the Central Oregon Coast.

The weather did not stop us from having fun today! We traveled around wine country and enjoyed new friends, food, wine and a lot of laughter.

There may have been wind and rain from a tropical storm from the Pacific Ocean but we hung onto our hats and umbrella’s as we worked our way to Carlton Cellars, Durant Vineyards, Duck Pond Winery and to Red Ridge Olive Mill.

Maybe you can join us some time.

The weather is stormy in Oregon! We have been invaded by a left over tropical storm that has moved in from the Pacific Ocean to dampen our spirits. It has caused rain and wind but, it can not stop us Oregonian’s from having fun.

Yesterday we visited three wineries and today we will do the same. We post our pictures on our Embrace Oregon.com Facebook page. There is no stopping us from having a good time.

There are many things you can do in stormy weather: Head to the Oregon Coast for wave watching, go to the movies, take a tour with us to Salem for a fun Heritage Tour or go with us on a wine tour. This is just a few of the many things you can do.

Today we will pickup guests at the McMinnville Red Lion Inn at 11:00 am. If you are there you can go with us for a discounted rate of $45.00 per person. We have the snacks and the vehicle with a driver. Come and have fun with us.

Yes, Oregon has olive trees! I know it is hard to believe. But, the Durant family outside of Dayton, Oregon has 77 acres or in other words 13,000 olive trees.

For a few years now I have been watching these trees grow. We have been taking folks from all around the world to visit Red Ridge Farm. They have had the opportunity to see these trees as well as to taste the olive oil that is crushed right there on the farm.

Now for the next couple of weeks Red Ridge Farm will be picking and crushing olives. This is a wonderful experience if you have not been to a crush. The Durant’s are great at giving you tasting samples of the fresh crushed olive oil.

The landscape is beautiful and the trees are loaded with olives. After the olives are picked they are taken in totes to be washed and crushed.

So, if you are looking for something fun to do… Give us a call and we will be happy to take you on a wonderful journey to see this process in Oregon. Don’t wait too long or the crush will be over.

Did you know that a company named Red Ridge Farms in Oregon has 13, 000 olive trees? They are pioneers in growing olives in Oregon.

We visited Red Ridge Farms this week and had a wonderful time tasting olive oil and checking out the olives on the trees.

How exciting … It will soon be harvest time.

After the olives are picked they are taking to a building on site and washed and processed. This is a very fun and exciting crop for Oregon.

Let us know at Embrace Oregon.com if you would like to take a tour and do a little olive oil tasting. We love tour guests and the chance to show them Oregon. Call us at: (503) 474-0762
