We always have fun when our returning guests come back to visit. This time they are a spunky group of ladies who love to laugh and enjoy sampling many types of wines.

We started our day at the Red Lion Inn & Suites McMinnville and headed on a journey to visit some Yamhill County wineries.

Our first visit was in the Dundee Hills at Wine Country Farm Bed & Breakfast and Armonea Wines. While sampling the wines we were able to see the horse riders coming in from a wine tour through the vineyards.

Then we headed south to visit Methven Family Vineyards to sample the wine and enjoy a few snacks. There was a little time for some great conversation.

Time allowed for us to visit Brooks Wines and enjoy another array of wines. Some we were a little surprised by. We also learned about biodynamic farming.

To end our day we took a little drive down McMinnville’s Historic Third Street to check out sites and then headed to the hotel.

It was a lovely day with my returning friends. The next time you are in our neighborhood give us a call and we can enjoy the day with you.

We do have fun in Oregon!

McMinnville just had a three-day wine festival called SIP. It was held at the Evergreen Aviation Museum and takes place each year in March among the planes and space equipment.

This event is filled with wines, food vendors and crafters from all over Oregon.

We would love to show you Oregon. Today was a special day. I met someone today for a wine tour. She was coming to McMinnville for the day from out of state. We met at the Evergreen Aviation Museum. When you go to pick up a new person you have never met before it is a great opportunity to learn about a new friend. It gives you time to learn about where they come from and things they like to see and do.

Digital Picture 331

As we started out to see Yamhill County’s wine country we talked about where she came from and the type of wines she like. She told me of her areas of expertise with her job and how she loved to travel and try new foods and wines.

Digital Picture 182

I gave her a little history of the area and about Oregon’s wonderful wine country. Since this was her first time wine tasting in Oregon she was eager to learn and sample wine. We traveled through McMinnville and headed to Carlton Cellars for a short tour of the winery and to sample wine. From Carlton Cellars we worked our way through the countryside to Laurel Ridge Winery where we had a light snack lunch along with… some more wine. Our last stop of the day was at Methven Family Vineyards. Which sits among acres if grapevines that have just been harvested. The leaves are starting to turn from green to gorgeous fall colors.

As the day came to an end and it was time to return her back to McMinnville, I knew Embrace Oregon and I had a new friend. It is always good to take the time to enjoy the day with someone new that you can call friend.

Have you visited Oregon’s vineyards and wineries? Well, this is a great time to visit them. There is so much going on everything from bottling wine to harvesting this years grapes. It is time for our yearly crush.

Digital Picture 115

I can hear you thinking… What does that mean? It means… The grapes are ready to come off the vine and they need to be brought to the wineries. So, the wineries are scrambling to get wine bottled and the equipment ready to process the grapes for fermentation.

As we traveled around Yamhill County’s wine country this week we were lucky enough to get some private tours. We viewed some bottling of wine and were able to see folks harvesting grapes in the vineyard.

Digital Picture 769 Digital Picture 841 Digital Picture 442 Digital Picture 229

Then we viewed the process for the crush where grapes were coming into the winery and prepped for fermentation. Naturally, there was a little wine tasting going on for us as we watched.

Digital Picture 835

We also had a chance to get a private tour in the vineyards from the owner of Methven Family Vineyards and taste some of the grapes right off the vine. Our group found the steps it takes from planting the grapevines to the time of harvest are many and seeing the wine being bottled fascinating.

During our visit we had a greater appreciation for the wine as we did our sampling.

If you are wanting to have a Oregon wine experience give us a call we would be happy to take you on a wine county journey with us.

We had fun in Yamhill County yesterday. We visited Methven Family Vineyard and were able to take a little tour behind the scenes. Not only did we do some wine tasting in the tasting room we also ate our appetizers on the patio and enjoyed the view.

Digital Picture 785

Then we were off with Will to go behind the scenes to see the bottling of Purple Cow Vineyards wines. There was a lot going on and was able to get some insight about the process of wine making.

As summer ends and fall begins we all try to grab onto all the things we still want to do. Some of us are not ready for the weather change and lack of daylight. We can look back on the summer fun that we had.

The summer has given us the chance to meet so many wonderful new friends. Our Embrace Oregon tours have given us the chance to have some wonderful moments with our new friends. There were many laughs, stories along with great food and wine. We have enjoyed showing our new friends some of Oregon and giving them a chance to embrace a moment.

We had great times at city events, softball, olive oil and wine tasting. Our travels have taken us all around the state of Oregon to explore and embrace each of the seven Oregon regions.
