We always have fun when our returning guests come back to visit. This time they are a spunky group of ladies who love to laugh and enjoy sampling many types of wines.

We started our day at the Red Lion Inn & Suites McMinnville and headed on a journey to visit some Yamhill County wineries.

Our first visit was in the Dundee Hills at Wine Country Farm Bed & Breakfast and Armonea Wines. While sampling the wines we were able to see the horse riders coming in from a wine tour through the vineyards.

Then we headed south to visit Methven Family Vineyards to sample the wine and enjoy a few snacks. There was a little time for some great conversation.

Time allowed for us to visit Brooks Wines and enjoy another array of wines. Some we were a little surprised by. We also learned about biodynamic farming.

To end our day we took a little drive down McMinnville’s Historic Third Street to check out sites and then headed to the hotel.

It was a lovely day with my returning friends. The next time you are in our neighborhood give us a call and we can enjoy the day with you.

We are so excited to share with you….

We are in the process of launching our new website. It may take 48 hours for the hosting companies to work out the bugs and get it on line. Keep a lookout for it.

Have you visited Oregon’s vineyards and wineries? Well, this is a great time to visit them. There is so much going on everything from bottling wine to harvesting this years grapes. It is time for our yearly crush.

I can hear you thinking… What does that mean? It means… The grapes are ready to come off the vine and they need to be brought to the wineries. So, the wineries are scrambling to get wine bottled and the equipment ready to process the grapes for fermentation.

As we traveled around Yamhill County’s wine country this week we were lucky enough to get some private tours. We viewed some bottling of wine and were able to see folks harvesting grapes in the vineyard.

Then we viewed the process for the crush where grapes were coming into the winery and prepped for fermentation. Naturally, there was a little wine tasting going on for us as we watched.

We also had a chance to get a private tour in the vineyards from the owner of Methven Family Vineyards and taste some of the grapes right off the vine. Our group found the steps it takes from planting the grapevines to the time of harvest are many and seeing the wine being bottled fascinating.

During our visit we had a greater appreciation for the wine as we did our sampling.

This morning was a morning where I wanted to catch the hot air balloons taking off at the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum. Naturally it was a two day event and today was the last day for them to lift off as a group. I have been busy with wine tours this week and this was the morning for me to catch them.

Digital Picture 008

Well, I woke up a little late. I did however jump in the shower and dress and head for the museum. As I approached the turn off for the museum I saw eight of the balloons drifting off to the south of me. I pulled the car over and tried to catch some pictures of these balloons that were in my site. I did not have a camera with me with a zoom lens. So, my photos are a little distant and not very good.

Digital Picture 003

This is an adventure I am sure others have experienced. Too late and do not have the correct equipment. When I arrived to the museum all the balloons were gone. But, you could see the last of them drifting away in the sky. Way too far away for the camera in my hand to catch another photo.

All is good! It is still a fun adventure to see these balloons in the sky. If you have ever gone on a hot air balloon ride. It is truly an adventure drifting over the gorgeous landscape below. Just floating like the clouds.

Even if your adventure does not go as planned… It can still be enjoyable. We are having fun in Oregon!

The week has been a busy one and I am sure you probably think so as well. We seem to place many things on our calendars and our to do lists that seem to never get done. When Friday gets here we think…. okay, we will finish up those to do lists on Saturday.

Well, it is Saturday and the to do list is being worked on. Do I feel good about all things I have accomplished? Yes I do. One of the things on my list is to look ahead on the calendar and set up my vacation. Yes, I know I work in the travel industry… But, I need vacation time too.

That brings me to the point of asking you… Have you set time aside for your vacation? You at least need to take a long weekend for yourself.

We have had a wonderful start to fall this year in Oregon. There has been many cool nights and sunny warm days. With this type of weather there are changes with our surroundings.

Many of the flowers are leaving us until spring. Our gardens are fading away. The leaves on our trees are turning and showing their new colors. Wow! This is a great time to get outside and take a walk or drive around your neighborhood or through the beautiful countryside.

Many people talk about going to the east coast to view the fall colors. I love the state of Oregon. Some people may think I am  just a little prejudice. But, Oregon also has beautiful fall colors and I do not need to go to the east coast to see them.

We have more pictures of Oregon and information about events in Oregon on our website: www.embraceoregon.com  checkout our facebook page also.

I hope you are taking time to Embrace Oregon and its beauty.

Have a great day in Oregon!
