We always have fun when our returning guests come back to visit. This time they are a spunky group of ladies who love to laugh and enjoy sampling many types of wines.

We started our day at the Red Lion Inn & Suites McMinnville and headed on a journey to visit some Yamhill County wineries.

Our first visit was in the Dundee Hills at Wine Country Farm Bed & Breakfast and Armonea Wines. While sampling the wines we were able to see the horse riders coming in from a wine tour through the vineyards.

Then we headed south to visit Methven Family Vineyards to sample the wine and enjoy a few snacks. There was a little time for some great conversation.

Time allowed for us to visit Brooks Wines and enjoy another array of wines. Some we were a little surprised by. We also learned about biodynamic farming.

To end our day we took a little drive down McMinnville’s Historic Third Street to check out sites and then headed to the hotel.

It was a lovely day with my returning friends. The next time you are in our neighborhood give us a call and we can enjoy the day with you.

We do have fun in Oregon!

Yesterday was a great day! We had a wine tour with seven wonderful guests. When setting up the wine tour we talked to Dave Walker at Tresori Vineyards. Dave invited us to sample some of Tresori Vineyards delicious Pinot Noir wines.

They were unsure about where to have us sample the wines. The new tasting room is under construction and not ready for this big Memorial Day Weekend winery opening. I told them to put out those signs that we were coming to visit.

With open arms Dave Walker, Joseph and Maureen Longo and the family greeted us. Joseph’s sister Jackie had decorated the building with her wonderful paintings and art. We were lucky to be their first visitors at Tresori Vineyards new tasting room. As we sampled these delicious wines more guests showed up. It was a great time enjoying wine, conversation and the valley view from this soon to be completed tasting room.

Every once in a while there are special moments you just can not pass by. This week I had one of those special moments that happened in front of me. Now, there are times where we are too busy to take time to share in someone else’s moments. Then there are times where you just know that you should share with others in their special moments.

A few weeks ago I was contacted by a young man who wanted to share the day with his girlfriend on a wine tour. He told me of his plans. So, after hearing his plans I was sure I wanted to help him with this wine tour. I made sure it was a private tour. With each winery offering something different for them to embrace. They had a tour of a wine cellar along with pictures with barrels of wine. There were great views to enjoy a few snacks as they sampled wine. Even wineries that said they were closed were open just for them.

The last winery of the day was at the beautiful Wine Country Farm Bed & Breakfast and Armonea` Vineyard and Winery. It over looks the valley from the Dundee Hills. After sampling an array of wines this young couple took their glass of wine and strolled through the gardens. At the edge of the garden there is a gazebo where this young couple sat down to shared their wine and some chocolate covered strawberries and chocolate kisses.

Soon came a special moment. This young man got down his knee and opened a jewelry box with a lovely ring. He took the ring and her hand and asked his girlfriend to marry him. She was surprised and with tears, smiles and kisses… She said…. Yes! This is a one in a life time moment that they will never forget.

Everyone one who shared in their day felt blessed to be a small part of their special moment. I know I do. So, as you go through your life do not pass by a special moment in yours or someone else’s life.

Have you visited Oregon’s vineyards and wineries? Well, this is a great time to visit them. There is so much going on everything from bottling wine to harvesting this years grapes. It is time for our yearly crush.

Digital Picture 115

I can hear you thinking… What does that mean? It means… The grapes are ready to come off the vine and they need to be brought to the wineries. So, the wineries are scrambling to get wine bottled and the equipment ready to process the grapes for fermentation.

As we traveled around Yamhill County’s wine country this week we were lucky enough to get some private tours. We viewed some bottling of wine and were able to see folks harvesting grapes in the vineyard.

Then we viewed the process for the crush where grapes were coming into the winery and prepped for fermentation. Naturally, there was a little wine tasting going on for us as we watched.

We also had a chance to get a private tour in the vineyards from the owner of Methven Family Vineyards and taste some of the grapes right off the vine. Our group found the steps it takes from planting the grapevines to the time of harvest are many and seeing the wine being bottled fascinating.

During our visit we had a greater appreciation for the wine as we did our sampling.

If you are wanting to have a Oregon wine experience give us a call we would be happy to take you on a wine county journey with us.
