Yesterday was a great day! We had a wine tour with seven wonderful guests. When setting up the wine tour we talked to Dave Walker at Tresori Vineyards. Dave invited us to sample some of Tresori Vineyards delicious Pinot Noir wines.

They were unsure about where to have us sample the wines. The new tasting room is under construction and not ready for this big Memorial Day Weekend winery opening. I told them to put out those signs that we were coming to visit.

With open arms Dave Walker, Joseph and Maureen Longo and the family greeted us. Joseph’s sister Jackie had decorated the building with her wonderful paintings and art. We were lucky to be their first visitors at Tresori Vineyards new tasting room. As we sampled these delicious wines more guests showed up. It was a great time enjoying wine, conversation and the valley view from this soon to be completed tasting room.

We would love to show you Oregon. Today was a special day. I met someone today for a wine tour. She was coming to McMinnville for the day from out of state. We met at the Evergreen Aviation Museum. When you go to pick up a new person you have never met before it is a great opportunity to learn about a new friend. It gives you time to learn about where they come from and things they like to see and do.

As we started out to see Yamhill County’s wine country we talked about where she came from and the type of wines she like. She told me of her areas of expertise with her job and how she loved to travel and try new foods and wines.

I gave her a little history of the area and about Oregon’s wonderful wine country. Since this was her first time wine tasting in Oregon she was eager to learn and sample wine. We traveled through McMinnville and headed to Carlton Cellars for a short tour of the winery and to sample wine. From Carlton Cellars we worked our way through the countryside to Laurel Ridge Winery where we had a light snack lunch along with… some more wine. Our last stop of the day was at Methven Family Vineyards. Which sits among acres if grapevines that have just been harvested. The leaves are starting to turn from green to gorgeous fall colors.

As the day came to an end and it was time to return her back to McMinnville, I knew Embrace Oregon and I had a new friend. It is always good to take the time to enjoy the day with someone new that you can call friend.

We use so many things in our lives and around the world. Many of them we do not think about where they come from or what they look like. I personally am guilty of this act.

Digital Picture 1586

Yesterday, I was out and about giving some guests a wine tour around Yamhill County’s Wine Country. We came across a friend of mine and he had something he wanted to show us. He asked the group if we all knew what he was holding. No one in the group knew. They were a little puzzled and was unsure of giving an answer.

Digital Picture 1589

They were very surprised when they found out that it was a piece of cork bark off a tree. Naturally it does not grow here in Oregon. But, to see this bark makes us understand more about the items we take for granted, where it comes from and how we do not think about the process of getting things made with cork.

We each had a wonderful day and learned something new.
